Why you’ll love them

  • Only 3 ingredients, plus a little white chocolate if you want to decorate.
  • No oven, no stove, no food processor. Just a bowl and a spatula.
  • Perfect for gifting in paper liners and a pretty box.

My tips

  • Use unsweetened coconut. The condensed milk adds all the sweetness you need.
  • Roll the balls twice. The second roll makes them much smoother.
  • Chill before dipping. Half an hour in the fridge firms them up so they don’t fall apart in the chocolate.
  • Melt the chocolate until smooth and runny, so it coats the balls evenly.
  • Dip any way you like. I use wooden skewers, but a fork or spoon works too. Shake off the extra chocolate.

Ways to decorate

I’m not very good at decorating, but I always try to do something different! A drizzle of melted white chocolate makes them look beautiful. Put it in a small piping bag for a neater finish, or simply sprinkle some coconut on top instead. You can also dip the balls in white chocolate instead of dark or milk chocolate.

3-Ingredient Chocolate Coconut Balls (No-Bake)

No-bake chocolate coconut balls made with just shredded coconut, condensed milk and chocolate. An easy, pretty Diwali treat for gift boxes.
Prep Time 25 minutes
Cook Time 5 minutes
Chilling 45 minutes
Total Time 1 hour 15 minutes
Servings: 14 balls
Course: Dessert
Cuisine: Indian Fusion

Ingredients

  • 1 cup shredded coconut unsweetened, about 80 g
  • 1/2 cup condensed milk about 150 g
  • 75 g dark or milk chocolate
  • white chocolate melted, for drizzling, optional

Method

  1. In a bowl, mix the shredded coconut and condensed milk well with a spatula. You don't need a food processor. You can also mix with clean hands.
  2. Take a little of the mixture and roll it into a ball. Make balls from all the mixture, then roll each one again to make it smoother.
  3. Refrigerate the balls for about 30 minutes to firm up.
  4. Melt the dark or milk chocolate in a double boiler or the microwave until smooth and runny.
  5. Dip each ball completely in the chocolate using a wooden skewer, fork or spoon. Shake off the extra chocolate and place it on a wire rack or a tray lined with parchment paper. If you used a skewer, fill the little hole with a dab of chocolate.
  6. Refrigerate for 10–15 minutes until the chocolate sets.
  7. Drizzle melted white chocolate over the top, or sprinkle with some coconut instead.

Use white chocolate for dipping instead of dark or milk chocolate, if you like.
For a neater drizzle, put the melted white chocolate in a small piping bag.
Store in an airtight box in the fridge.
