Happy Monday you all beautiful people!

Today’s Monday Mantra is BE YOUR OWN KIND OF BEAUTIFUL.

We are all distinctively created, so why do we compare ourselves with others? In our heads, we always try to be a perfect person, and because of this we are often thinking of what people will say about us, the way we look, dress, the way we walk, talk, behave etc. Especially as women, I feel like there is this invisible range or standard by which we all measure ourselves. We sometimes do not embrace ourselves as we are and we feel ashamed of our skin colour, our body shape, or anything related to us. Instead, we should look at ourselves as individuals. We are all beautiful in our own way.

It was my anniversary, and I had not baked any cake till afternoon. All the phone calls that were coming to wish me were having questions from family and friends, ” What cake you baked today for your anniversary?”, ” hey baked your cake?” and “Why haven’t you baked for yourself when you bake for everyone’s birthdays and anniversaries?”

And I was like, “Hey even I want someone to bake a cake for me. “But somehow these questions encouraged me and I was in the kitchen to bake a cake for hubby dear. Why to look for your happiness from others, when we can ourselves bring sunshine to us and to our loved ones. 🙂

So I decided to bake a random egg-less cake.

My mother was so fond of this cake,  that now it has become one of my favorites too, as a part of my missing her routine. (Since the time she left me in February, 2015) Every time I bake it, it reminds me of her expressions she had whenever she used to eat it. So here I am sharing the recipe of egg-less cake. This is my best tea-time cake, and simplest to make.

Let’s get started!

Navratri Season has rolled out with its full glory. While it signifies celebration and galore, it also marks the beginning of fasting days.  This is actually the beginning of the nine-day festival devoted to goddess Durga. People fast for seven to nine days and refrain from eating daily food items. During Navratri, it is advised to avoid the Rajasic and Taamasic foods as they symbolize worldly desires and only Satvik food is allowed.

Navratri also has a scientific relevance. It is said that since Navratri is held twice a year (once in summer and once in autumn); during this time our body has weak immunity due to seasonal changes. If we eat light meals which are also nutritious in nature, we can help our body stay away from the various ailments. Therefore, eating heavy foods can harm our immunity.  Fasting is a process which cleans our system inside out and therefore should be taken seriously. Some people along with celebrating Navratri indulge in heavy food too. However, do keep the following rules in mind if you wish to opt for the fasting.

What else could I post today, when Rajan and I celebrate 20 years of our marriage. At this time, twenty years back, I was with my mum, and other family members, getting ready to take the vows and become Mrs Rajan Ohri. My maiden name Deepali Khanna, seems a lifetime ago. I was just 22 and my husband a year older. We stood smiling, having mixed feelings and thoughts and no clue what life had planned for us.

So Happy 20th Anniversary Husband! <3
