Recently, There was a headline on one of the articles of NDTV stating” Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli ‘danced like nobody’s watching’ at their Delhi reception. And this made me wonder, do we all really behave the same way? Why shouldn’t they be dancing on the most special occasion of their lives? Was everyone judging them? If yes then why? And this thought made me write about this as my Monday Motivation series.

“Dance like nobody’s watching”

I think that this quote means to be yourself; to act like everything is ok. It means that you shouldn’t care if anybody is watching you dance, you should just dance and have fun. This quote tells you to be happy and positive.

Who could better understand this quote literally, than me? I am a dance lover (not a professional dancer) and have earned positive and negative feedback both on my dancing. The people who really felt bad about my dancing on every family wedding must be happy when I went through a hip-replacement surgery in 2015. But bad news for them, I can even dance now, although, not similarly as before. (As I have to take care of some details which do not harm my artificial hip)

Ten years back, during a family wedding (in my in-laws) I danced a lot, really forgetting about who all are watching me. And then found someone very close in family quoting, “hmm she dance as if she is a “nachne wali”(calling me a dancer in a sarcastic manner). When I came to know about this, I was hurt, as that person always was different on my face. It affected me initially; I thought I will never dance as maybe everyone must be talking at my back. But then I took it positively. And I thought that maybe that person doesn’t know how to dance herself and said this about me out of jealousy. Do I really care? No, I couldn’t actually let a moment pass, when I could dance like no one’s watching.

Do You also Worry Too Much about What Others Will Think. For as long as I can remember, I have NEEDLESSLY worriedbothered and tormented over many decisions in my life; all because of one simple thing. I was afraid of what other people might think, say or how others might identify me. All that silly worrying mugged me of many experiences that could have and should have been great.

Lesson Learnt: Don’t let what you think other people might think control your behaviour. Dance like no one is watching.
This spreads to many other aspects of life. Many folks don’t embark on new journeys because of what they believe other people will think. Its human nature, it’s been enthralled upon us from birth that we need to be concerned about how others perceive us but frankly the less I care the happier I am, generally.

Life is too short to not have a good time. We hear it over and over again, but the truth is, life is very short and very unpredictable. Do you really want to be on your death bed regretting all the times you could have let loose?

So, enjoy yourself without caring of what others think, or say. At last find pleasure in all you do, love regardless, have fun and feel comfortable with what makes you feel good.
